BLOG
In the first season of the Art Barn movement, I returned to writing. In the process, I experienced what it felt like to leave behind the fear of making a mistake and bravely opened the gate to the spacious garden of my imagination- the one that had been cemented shut since childhood.
I didn’t call myself an artist. Until I participated in the Artists Way workshop 10 years ago, I had reserved all my courage for day-to-day battles like bills, laundry and who does what responsibilities. “Art” was for people born to be artists. It is true, that the way you get better at anything is to practice, but first you return. Now I see, the gift of creating is what makes us different than animals. In the words of Scott Avett, “to create faithfully is to be me”.
This blog is dedicated to the story telling of experiences we uncover as we travel to neighborhoods near and far, inviting neighbors to experience moments of simple aliveness through the lessons in nature and to express themselves creatively, with whatever we have in front of us. Gosh darn it, Art Barn it!
